China releases 5G frequency band, with outstanding advantages in domestic ceramic substrates

5G represents more than just an increase in network speed. From a small perspective, the direct impact is to make people's daily lives more convenient; But from a broader perspective, 5G is a revolutionary upgrade of the unlimited communication network and the core information infrastructure for the upgrading and transformation of the national economy. If domestic 5G commercial use can be completed according to the plan in 2020, domestic enterprises, whether in the communication industry or non communication industry, can enhance their competitiveness in the international market and play a promoting role in China's overall economic development.

 

 

 

Recently, China took the lead in releasing the usage plan for the 5G frequency band (3000-5000MHz frequency band), becoming the first country to announce the use of the 5G system in the mid frequency band, and determining the working frequency band of the 5G system. This is of course a very important step for 5G to go commercial.

 

 

 

It is understood that in the 5G frequency spectrum released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology this time, 3.3GHz to 3.6GHz have been widely recognized globally. However, in addition to this golden frequency band, the newly determined 4.8GHz 5GHz represents a new perspective. This represents that China is making more attempts and efforts to lead 5G. In the eyes of researchers, the improvement of 5G cannot stop at millimeter waves, and China's communication industry is exploring the potential of more frequency bands.

 

 

 

Why try more frequency bands?

 

 

 

In the propagation of infinite communication networks, the lower the frequency of information waves, the less information they transmit, but they can reach further places. That is to say, the current mainstream 2.4G frequency band has a wider coverage than the 5G frequency band. The advantage of 5G lies in the fact that the frequency band can provide a larger bandwidth, which makes people feel shocked that 'a few gigabytes per second' has become a reality, but the coverage is relatively small. This is why it is expected that the basic base station density in the 5G era will exceed that of the 4G popularization era by tens of times.

 

 

 

So, in a certain range of high-density transmission, when the number of users uploading and downloading increases, the fidelity of information is quite important. Even now, packet loss and connection problems caused by network transmission problems are still common. This is similar to the requirements of Hi Fi (High Fidelity, reproducing sound that is highly similar to the original sound). In terms of ensuring the transmission of electrical signals, relevant manufacturers have chosen ceramic substrates. Compared to other PCB substrate materials in the current market, ceramic substrates have a lower resistance and more stable resistance layer, which can fully ensure the transmission and integrity of electrical signals and is also a favorable guarantee for the signal transmission of 5G base stations.

 

 

 

On the day when the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the 5G frequency band, Beijing also held a large-scale technical seminar with the theme of 5G. The main discussion is on the challenges and solutions of promoting 5G in various aspects. The meeting also proposed that China will conduct on-site trials of 5G in 2018 and pre commercial 5G in hot areas of dozens of cities in 2019. The difference between pre commercial and commercial is not significant in China, and the initial installation of base stations is definitely in full swing. So, in terms of material selection, it is natural to prioritize the optimal product, set a long-term plan, and service life is one of the key points. The ceramic substrate also has outstanding advantages here. The oxide layer does not contain organic components, making it more durable. In both trial and practical applications, the ceramic substrate has performed quite well.

 

 

 

Under the trend of the times, the advantages of ceramic substrates are becoming increasingly prominent, fully meeting the high-performance requirements of hardware materials for the development of various related industries.
