UV, also known as ultraviolet, is divided into four wavelengths based on different biological effects: long wave UVA,
medium wave UVB, short wave UVC, and vacuum wave UVD. The longer the wavelength, the stronger the penetration ability.
UVA
Long wave UVA, with wavelengths ranging from 320 to 400 nanometers, is also known as long wave black spot effect ultraviolet.
Has strong penetrating power, able to penetrate glass, even 9 feet of water; And it exists throughout the year, regardless of weather, day or night.
Degree of harm to human body: More than 95% of the ultraviolet rays that daily skin comes into contact with are UVA,
so it causes the greatest damage to the skin. UVA can attack the dermis through the epidermis, causing severe damage to the collagen and elastin in the skin;
Moreover, dermal cells have poor self-protection ability, and a small amount of UVA can cause significant damage. Over time, skin problems such as looseness,
wrinkles, and the emergence of microvessels occur.
At the same time, it can also activate tyrosinase, leading to immediate melanin deposition and the formation of new melanin,
causing the skin to darken and lack luster. UVA can cause long-term, chronic, and long-lasting damage, leading to premature aging of the skin,
hence it is also known as aging radiation.
Application field: The 360nm wavelength of UVA ultraviolet light conforms to the phototaxis response curve of insects and can be used to make insect traps.
The 300-420nm wavelength of UVA ultraviolet light can pass through a special colored glass lamp tube that completely cuts off visible light,
emitting only near-ultraviolet light centered at 365nm. It can be used for ore identification, stage decoration, currency verification, and other places.
Ceramic substrate application: Generally, aluminum nitride ceramic substrates are used. Sliton aluminum nitride ceramic substrates have excellent thermal
conductivity of 270-330W/(m · K). For this high-power UV LED, it can effectively dissipate the heat generated by the lamp beads, extend the lifespan of the lamp,
and reduce the energy consumption of the lamp.
UVB
Medium wave UVB, with a wavelength ranging from 275 to 320 nanometers, is also known as medium wave erythema effect ultraviolet. Medium penetration,
the shorter wavelength part of it will be absorbed by transparent glass, and most of the medium wave ultraviolet rays contained in sunlight are absorbed by
the ozone layer. Only less than 2% can reach the Earth's surface, and they will be particularly strong in summer and afternoon.
Degree of harm to the human body: It can oxidize the protective lipid layer on the surface, causing the skin to dry out; Furthermore, it denatures the nucleic
acids and proteins in the epidermal cells, leading to symptoms such as acute dermatitis (i.e. sunburn), which can cause the skin to turn red and painful.
In severe cases, such as prolonged exposure to sunlight, it can also lead to skin cancer. In addition, the long-term damage caused by UVB can also cause
mutations in melanocytes, resulting in difficult to eliminate solar spots.
Application field: UV health lamps and plant growth lamps emit special transparent glass (not penetrating light below 254nm) and fluorescent powder with
a peak value near 300nm.
Ceramic substrate application: Generally, aluminum oxide ceramic substrates are used. The thermal conductivity of aluminum oxide ceramic substrates is
sufficient to handle UVB level heat dissipation, and their cost is significantly lower than that of aluminum nitride ceramic substrates, which can achieve
very good cost control. In the still emerging field of plant lamps, aluminum oxide ceramic substrates are undoubtedly a killer. Moreover, the Sliton alumina
ceramic circuit board is made using laser technology, which has higher strength than ordinary ceramic circuit boards and more advantages in terms of reliability.
UVC
Short wave UVC, with a wavelength ranging from 200 to 275 nanometers, is also known as short wave sterilized ultraviolet radiation. It has the weakest
penetration ability and cannot penetrate most transparent glass and plastic. The shortwave ultraviolet rays contained in sunlight are almost completely
absorbed by the ozone layer, and are absorbed by the ozone layer before reaching the ground.
Degree of harm to human body: UVC in nature is absorbed by the ozone layer before reaching the ground, and its impact on the skin can be ignored.
However, in fact, shortwave ultraviolet radiation can cause significant harm to the human body and cannot directly irradiate the human body. If directly
irradiated, short-term exposure can burn the skin, while long-term or high-intensity exposure can also cause skin cancer.
Application field: The ultraviolet sterilization lamp emits UVC short wave ultraviolet light. Short wave ultraviolet radiation is widely used in hospitals,
air conditioning systems, disinfection cabinets, water treatment equipment, drinking fountains, sewage treatment plants, swimming pools, food and
beverage processing and packaging equipment, food factories, cosmetics factories, dairy factories, breweries, beverage factories, bakeries, and refrigeration rooms.
Ceramic substrate application: Because UVC is mostly used in food grade disinfection and sterilization, ceramic substrates, as inorganic substances,
are more environmentally safe and do not cause any pollution, providing users with the most reassuring disinfection experience. The ceramic circuit
boards used are mostly alumina ceramic circuit boards, which can ensure that the disinfection machine reaches the maximum lifespan limit.
